Unilt the 60ies of the last century whaling station have operated on the remote antarctic island of South Georgia.

By now they are a symbol for mankinds greed for natural ressources and their exploitation to the brink of extinction. Thousends of whales and elephant-seals have been butchered and processed in these whaling stations. Martin Zwick shows pictures of the now derelict whalingstations on South Georgia.

In the beginning of the last century whales have been so numerous in the bays of South Georgia, that "you could walk on the backs of the whales from shore to shore" as some sources say.

Martin Zwick was six weeks on South Georgia and did not spot a single whale!
