Cranes flying back to their roosting place

Since several years the number of Cranes (Grus grus) stopping in Hungary, Hortobagy, for a good rest before travelling south again is steadily increasing. In November I spent several days to check out this place for photography.

The pictures are now online.

I must admit that this region has not yet understood the opportunity of crane related tourism and not at all regarding photography. Sad!

Nearly no accomodation, regardless of type, was open, in the evening it was hardly possible to find something to eat and hides suitable for photography do, as it seems, not exist. At least I could not find them after intensive searche in the web and in Hortobagy.

All the same the daily flight of thousands of cranes back to their roosting place in one of the fish ponds is spectacular to watch, however not ideal for photographers.
