Uganda had to endure much in the past, but slowly the country is recovering from this dire and cruel history.
The Rhino became extinct around 1986 in the turmoil of wars and rebellions. A couple of years ago a NGO was founded with the long term goal to reestablish a Rhino population in the National Parks of Uganda.
Now the Rhinofund Uganda manages the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary with three donated Rhinos from Kenia and from Disney Animal Kingdom. These Rhinos are guarded around the clock by Askaris and can be visited by interested tourists.
